Questions for non-iPhone users

I work with a lot of people that use non-iPhones for their personal phone and all have some weird vendetta against iPhones. It's almost at a hipster-like level of "everyone has iPhones but this has better camera quality, can get more apps, etc."
My questions are: why did you get the phone you have instead of an iPhone, and are you one of those people that loves to tell others why your phone is so much better?

I don't like Apple products. I enjoy the wider array of apps and customization available on an Android product. My old phone died not too recently and I got a Note 4. It's pretty badass and is almost the size of a tablet.

No.

Those commercials are enticing. Is that little pen thing useful or do you just use your fingers?

I haven't found a really productive use for it yet. I don't rely on my phone for very much other than consumption, though, so it's not a big deal.

I've always had an android phone. I like apple too (posting this from iPad) but I'm just used to the OS now and don't feel like changing

I have tried Android phones twice and hated both. Battery life on the old Droid 2 was awful from Verizon due to some background apps you couldn't get off of it and then I tried a Galaxy I think. Never made it past a few days before taking it back.
I am on my second iPhone and the simplicity of them appeals to me. The iPhone is a really good phone that has everything I need on it, I don't feel compelled to customize my phone too much

I like to use my phone a Wi-Fi hotspot, because I have a Verizon unlimited data plan. I bought an app for $5 to do it with. With Apple, I'd have to jailbreak it.
There are also a lot of apps that Apple won't allow, that Android does. Most of those spots Apple bans only benefit the telecommunications companies.
I also like Swype as a keyboard. Apple basically forces me to jailbreak a phone to have it setup the way I want it.

I am a multi user on both platforms. I like apple phones for simplicity and function. They work, i email from it and it's great.
That being said, I hate Apple, Tim Cook, Apple Stores, the culture, their prices and their sales process.
Steve Jobs was a terrible human being but a truly once in a life time innovator and genius that I respect hugely.
Android is fun and if I had to pick for personal life, I'd never go with an iPhone.
I am considering a windows phone for my next work phone. Been a fan of Windows 10.

Windows phones are terrible. I had a Nokia from work, before it broke and I switched to a phone allowance. I highly recommend avoiding them. The app store is also so barren, it's kinda funny.
I've also had iPhones from work. And I didn't like the way they try to oversimplify everything.
I'd recommend iPhones for older people without a lot of technological experience.
I think the biggest problem with Android, is that not all phones are created equal. Get a bad one, and it can sour you on the platform. Apple has a definite quality control advantage. But if you do your research, and know which Androids are solid phone, I think more people would enjoy them over an Apple.

3rd party keyboards are now on iPhone but I just didn't care for them either. The hotspot is something I was always interested in since I still have the unlimited data too but I don't care enough to jailbreak my phone to do it.

I have both and I like the android better. My only complaint is it's an AT&T and has so much bloat ware on it it kills the battery to fast. I'll root it one of these days and that will solve the problem.

I've had both, hated my iPhone, love my Droid Turbo. It's just preference. I do have an iPad Air 2 and love it though, just didn't like iPhone.

But regardless, you do realize iPhone users are much, much more annoying about their phones as a whole right?
I mean just look at them on new model release dates. I just don't see where you're coming from here.

I had an iPhone and then moved to a droid a few years later. The droid blew the iPhone away in terms of functionality and just overall technology. Then I had to have an iPhone again for work last year. I hated it and went back to my Galaxy. I don't have anything against iPhones but after 2 tries I just really prefer the droids. Now, a low end droid is going to suck but the top of the line models will pretty much always blow away the iPhones.

I'm no techie. My reasons are that I'm used to Android, and blind as a damn bat...the larger screen really is a major part of my decision.

I was an android follower until the iPhone 4 came out. Once I switched I realized how dummy proof apple products are. I knew how to work the files on my androids, but there is no need on the iPhone, the dumbest among us can use them with ease. That is why Apple wins, it's for the masses.

I run everything in my home off my iPhone hotspot. Love it.
