How many plates can you eat at a single meal?

Asking as I watched this little guy from south of the border polish off 4 plates of them (and that did not include a plate of corn on the cob and boiled potatoes). Guy looked between 25 and 35 and looked about 140 to 150 lbs. Was amazed how fast he did it too.

Plates were pretty full and stacked several layers high.

We don't eat plates, we eat platters with lbs of crawfish in them. Most people in Cajun country can eat anywhere between 3-5 lbs, some more than that.

Love the social aspect of crawfish boils, but not a huge fan of crawfish themselves. I'll eat them, but won't go out of my way for them.

I don't measure by plates. I measure by hours spent at a table with continuous pours. I've put down about 10 pounds worth in one full day. Just sit and eat and drink and step away and come back and continue eating.

I like all the booze and all the other stuff, potatoes, corn, sausage, green beans, whatever else more than the actual crawfish.

I was at a place in Harvey , on the West Bank which was a beer joint, caffe, pool hall which had crawfish. They would bring out a roll brown paper and roll it on the table then bring out the crawfish by the #. The guy I was with would order 5# to start with and we would go from there. Best I ever ate.

Favorite Food ever. if I could change 1 thing about Nashville I'd put it within a couple hours of the gulf so we had access to them. Not much good Cajun food in Nashville

Crawfish are the only food you can starve to death while eating.

I don't think he was implying that they do. An hour closer to the gulf would put him in North Mississippi. About the extent of good crawfish in that region. Any farther north and it either doesn't exist or it's shite.

I enjoy the combo of all of it. Obviously I enjoy crawfish but I'm not just going to boil a big pot, pour it out on the kitchen table, and eat all of it by myself. What makes it enjoyable is the beer, the veggies and sausage, and most of all the social aspect of it. It's a communal eating experience.

I had two pounds last Saturday, along with the potatoes and sausage (passed on the corn). Nothing for someone to eat 4 or 5 though.
