No need to create a false dichotomy here: you can easily have fun and still make good grades. There are people who peak in college and do nothing with their lives afterwards. Do not be one of them.

This is exactly what keeps holding me back. I can do shite at the last minute and get high B's consistently. I know I could be rolling with a 4.0 if I had half the time management/focus of most people I know. I just have a habit of really scatterbrained thinking and needing some kind of inspiration to actually get focused.

I was the same way, don't sweat it right now. Just when you get to the hard / upper level courses you will need to pick it up a bit more or those all nighters will start turning in to all day / nighters which really really suck and don't work out too well.
