On a scale from 1-10, how much do you hate Seth Rogen?

American Sniper kind of reminds me of the movie that's showing in the third act of Inglorious Basterds.

Of course he is referring to the fictional sniper movie where the Nazis were glorifying one of their "heros" in "Nation's Pride."

Inglorious Basterds: Nation's Pride trailer (youtube)

Inglorious Basterds: Nation's Pride outtake (youtube)

So what Rogen is saying is that our movie "American Sniper" is propaganda glorifying (and this is coming out of Hollywood a lot today), a cold blooded murderer of women and children all for the sake of American patriotism.

Is Hollywood jealous of the financial success that is American Sniper and Clint Eastwood?

Rogen is viewed differently than Michael Moore ... why?

Discuss, if you are so inclined ...

We really should make Canada and Western Europe provide their own defense for a little while (and the rest of the world for that matter). Just tell NATO and the UN that we've got some other priorities right now like paying down debt and they can handle China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Islam, etc. on their own if anything happens.

Not by all. He's on my will not watch list as is Moore, along with a few other actors/actresses. Some are so politically outspoken, I cannot watch a movie and enjoy it because I can't separate their roles from the animosity I have for their viewpoints, and I'd rather not contribute to their payday.

Can we start discussing these people on a scale of 1 to Lena Dunham?

Cause Rogan is a 6 for me, even before this tweet.

He's a 1 for me, because I don't care what some movie star has to say about politics.

I don't hate anyone. I just can't enjoy a movie when they're so outspoken and it's opposite my views. Some are to the point I can't separate their activism from their on screen personas. Entertain me if I'm paying for entertainment.

Rogen seems less principled than Moore to me (if that's possible).

So I have greater disdain for him.

I still don't care enough about him to hate him.

He makes stupid stoner flicks, there's not really some deep message there.

Don't care about their politics, just like I don't choose my doctor for their politics. If I need heart surgery, I'm not turning Dr. Carson away because I disagree with him.

This. I watch them because I want to watch their movies, not because I care about their political stances.

Besides, there aren't many people in the world that are worth hating. It takes too much energy to hate.

Oh, I know there's not in his movies. But seems every time he's on talk or in the public.. he's got something really stupid to say. Repeat enough and I associate that with the actor, rather than their ability to entertain.

Heart surgery and a laugh are pretty far apart as well, and I probably would turn Dr. Carson away in favor of a heart surgeon, as his specialty is neurology.

If that's what he took from the movie, then that's his interpretation of it. Assuming of course he watched it. I didn't really feel American Sniper was glorifying what Kyle did, nor really propaganda, but I guess I could see how some might view it that way. I do see some using it as an example of American exceptionalism, so maybe Rogen is right.

Anyway, my hate for him would be at a 0.

Yes ... it was. Loved that movie.

But here's the thing, since you bring-up Rogen movies.

Didn't America just finish defending and backing Rogen in his right to make "The Interview" about killing NK PM?

Is there a lot of hypocrisy going-on here?

Hollywood is overrun by delusional people who are detached from the real world. If we hated on every whacked out movie star, the industry would die. I ignore them for the most part because they are no more qualified to give an informed opinion than any person on the street.

wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.

Not because of the reasons given, but I hardly get a chance to do the movies or watch tv much anymore. When I do have free time, I'm usually doing something else.

The last 3 movies I saw at the theatre:

22 Jump Street
Star Trek (the first reboot)
Lord of the Rings Return of the King
