Every commercial now has to make the white guy look like the idiot.
For example the State Farm? insurance ad where the whimpy guy wrecked the car due to a bee getting inside. And he remains all jumpy in the ad, especially when his wife goes "bzzz". around him.

Start with investment firm commercials or a lot of jeweler commercials and go from there.
Making GUYS seem a little simple might be a better argument for a recurring trend. Maybe.
But just white guys? Nah.

Every commercial these days seemingly has a white guy who's a total dufus, a white woman who knows what's best for him, and a black friend who is smart, sophisticated, and dresses well (possibly in a suit and tie or maybe just a blazer and jeans).

People see what they want in advertising
Y'all tend not to notice the many commercials that make the majority race look good. Not saying anyone is :racist: , but that's just human nature.
And it's also human nature to take note of when those that look different are placed front and center in a positive light (I know I'm guilty of that).
