If after 15 years you haven't moved to a position that makes more than $8.50 an hour then I'm going to say it may have more to do with you and less to do with your right to better pay.
I don't have any problem with minimum wage being something that rises with the cost of living. But $15 is pretty damn absurd.

these dummies don't realize their job requires no skill and that paying them more money = the food costs going up which means no business and no job.

I started 3 minimum wage jobs from 15 on and was making 8+ by the end of all of them. And i was an idiot. A hard worker but an idiot.
These people don't want equality. They want a handout.

She's 39 years old, has been there for 15 years, and is still making $8.65 an hour. She's either a terrible employee or dumb as a brick, because at this point she should at least be a shift manager making decent money.
No way in hell McDonalds, Burger King, etc. allow their workers to unionize. They are in the same boat as Walmart. A union would put them out of business in a hurry. They survive because they are cheaper and more convenient than their competitors. If they are no longer cheaper, and their shitty, lazy union labor deprives the consumer of convenience, they are toast.

I would bet that "15 years" in the industry in Willetta's case means; 1 year at BK, a good minute at Wendy's, a minute at Taco Bell and another minute at KFC. A grand total of 3 years work in 15. No one could possibly be in any job for that long consecutively and only make that amount.

Willietta Dukes, 39, of Durham, N.C., a mother of two, told The Washington Post she plans to walk off her job at Burger King on Aug. 29. Her highest salary after working for 15 years in the industry is $8.65 per hour.
She wins

That shite is funny ... No one laughed cause they all thought they may get labeled a racist for doing so... But I'm white and I've hooked up with a black chick so I can never be racist.

I can't get $15 an hour now. I have to rely on commission. They can eat a bag of dicks.

What she and the others don't realize is, if they raise their minimum wage, half of them will probably be fired.

Was thinking the same thing. ol Thelma isn't going to be happy when she gets canned from her midnight shift at the Waffle House, and walks in to Mcd's for her morning shift to find out she is getting canned because she isn't qualified to work their any longer.
ETA: Also, if i was her boss and read that i would make that her scheduled day off just to hack her off.

I worked at Wendy's when I was young. Job sucks.

There are literally thousands of unemployed people with similar minimal job skills lining up to take their jobs.
Maybe hundreds, but not thousands.
