Nah I got a warning for making threads about that particular team. I'm just trying to stay nice.

You going to Des Moine or Peoria for your next tour? You'll be a hit!!

Anyway, What is Jones' deal with this damn basketball team? It is like watching Brady all over again.

Im interested to see how he coaches when he has all of his players in. I think he got out coached in a few games but we might be putting it together now. It clearly took a while for this team to gel and we are really missing a pure dead eye shooter. hickey is a good shooter but he gets lost in the flow sometimes and his height forces him to go way outside. Stringer can be deadly when on but he also can go ice cold. Coleman was hitting his open 3s when we were winning but he slowed down lately. Once we bring in a consistent threat from 3 that is over 6 foot we should be good.

I wasn't surprised ut beat us because they own us every time. they are just too physical for us. The ole miss game really pissed me off. Job played like a fricking bitch, he can be slow as can be some games

I have been disappointed surprised by our lack of press this year and i also don't like mickey at the tip of the press. We have the length and depth to really press people.

If it was me I would clamp the press down on our first made basket of the game. I think that could be a good way to get up early. I would also use the press if we got down more than 6 at any point. Then at the half id start with a 1-3-1 half court trap.

I like man to man d but unless someone is raining 3s down on us, I would like to see us run a 2-3 zone. I really believe when you have athletes like we do that its best to crank up pressure and try to turn the game into a track meet.

I would try to make it into a track meet also. I would recruit guys all 6-4 to 6-9 that can handle ball. I dont care if I get out rebounded. But I would go Tulane Posse style/NHL line changes and start pressing someone soon as they get off the bus.

Arkansas claims they do it but nobody has since the late 90's.

I think the only problem with that has been we seem to turn it over if we get too out of control. However we have a extremely low basketball ball iq in the half court and we don't have guards that slash. once this team gets a guard that slashes and a dead eye shooter we will be nasty. Until then I think a good controlled up tempo pressure filled d is the way to go. We seem to get bored and lazy at times. I think switching up to a trapping zone could keep the energy up. I really think playing a loose man is a terrible thing because that is when you get lazy. Everyone is pumped when you press, or trap.

eta: i think jones is recruiting bigger guards and that TQ will end up being very good for us. He looks like he can get to the goal which is what we need. I also think we have the depth to pull line changes. shane, odo and malone are serviceable for quick breathers

One of my favorite teams ever was the 89-90 Illinois team with Kendall Gill, Kenny Battle, Marcus Liberty, Stephen Bardo, Nick Anderson, et al. Usually wasn't a guy over 6-8 on the floor. But really no one under 6-4.

The OU team with Stacey King (if he was 6'10" then I am a movie star) and the Arkansas 90 team when they took out Credit was the best teams like that IMO.

I still dont get how the most talented MU team lost to UNI in Richmond still

Smith
Peeler
Irvin
Sandbothe
etc.
