Bourbon house oyster bar, right across from acme oyster house. Much better and no line.

K-Paul's is the restaurant that invented blackening. Do it. May have to wear slacks and a button down but it's worth it.

Hand grenades are too sweet, if you're looking for a long night then stay away from these; you'll be puking pretty quick.

It's just ok. Many better oyster places in town. If Casamento's is still open, That's where I'd go. K-Pauls is very good but there's better Creole/Cajon in town. If that's his goal, just do like any tourist and do Commanders.

Honestly for food just go with Eddie ' s list. He did well with it.

Hand grenades are great to get you going or to finish the night. Can't drink more than one and have a good night.

It's part of the experience. People just wait until they are already too drunk and drop a sugary drink loaded with alcohol in their bellies. Ends badly like any night mostly spent in the quarter should.

If you see chargrilled oysters on the menu- order them. I've had them at a variety of places there and they are always awesome, better than bienville or Rockefeller IMO. It's 740 am and I could eat some now.

As far as walking around etc- don't be stupid but don't be scared either- enjoy it.

Drago's

I haven't been but have heard it talked about other than this thread so it's obv amazing food.

But curiously what makes their oysters charbroiled (grilled?) better- garlic, butter, Parmesan are simple perfection anywhere right?

I think they were the original, they just got it figured out.

Although I will say that unless you are going for the oysters, don't go to Drago's. It is still good, but lots of better places to go for other food.

Boiled Crab?

Deanies in Lakeview is where I always go(it is actually in Metairie, but just across the parish line, probably 10 minutes from downtown)

not sure where to go downtown. Maybe Acme Oyster House. And there is a Deanie's location downtown, I've never been so not sure if it is as good but they will probably have some.
