Anyone read about or catch the History channel special on the new evidence that's been revealed showing those guys most likely did in fact survive? FBI always stood strong on the theory they drowned trying to swim across the bay. The family sheds new light on how they made it across, by tying their homemade raft to a barge leaving the island and got a tow across. Very interesting.

I watched it this week. Pretty interesting.

What was weird was the friend going to visit the family in 1992 with a photo and good news from 1975. I suspect the friend knew more.

Did anyone catch at the end it was dedicated to one of the Widner brother's sons who just recently died at 17 from cancer?

Yea the friend was a pilot that was arrested for smuggling drugs into South Florida. Now how do you think the brothers got to Brazil??? That "friend" was a lot more involved than he let on.

I missed the part about the friend being a smuggler. That's pretty sketch. He probably waited to tell the family until the brothers had changed locations again or died.

Interesting.
My Mom (who is in her 80's) knew the Anglin brothers growing up. She always thought they didn't make it because they always showed up in Ruskin and/or Gibsonton Fla after their previous escapes. The Sheriff always knew where to pick them up. Maybe they took the advice to just disappear.

I watched it a couple of weeks ago. I didn't quite catch the part where the childhood friend happened to run into one of the brothers in a bar outside Rio. Is that correct? Sounds kinda convenient, if so.
