Go Air Guard. After being in the Army and seeing how the Air Force had it made, I realized that I had made the wrong decision.

Does air guard typically stay in the respective state?

The guard is a state military. There used to be a unit in Meridian, MS.

The guard is a great thing to do. I was active duty but many of my friends were guardsmen. You can also make a lot of valuable connections in your state in the guard.

Be prepared to be called a nasty girl at basic training and throughout your military career by your active duty peers.

I want to stay a reserve. If you want, I'll gladly email you and stuff so we can chat about this privately since you have the experience and maybe some advice?

any advice for me

I was in the Louisiana - 812th Medical Detachment and Alabama Guard - 1/131st Combat Assault BN, both are Army National Guard Units.

Good experience, it important you understand how to make each year you are in the Guard a "Good Year" for retirement, if that is a consideration of a long term goal.

Living and working conditions are always more comfortable in the Air Force. Promotions are slower

I am in the Arkansas Air National Guard and I can 100% tell you that you want to go in the Air Guard and not the Army Guard.

Just so you know there is a difference between the Reserves and the Guard.

The Air National Guard is the way to go. I spent 6 years in the Army National Guard and it was a miserable experience.

No brainer.

Or AF Reserves either one is a good reserve spot.
