Whenever I answer these types of questions about comics turned movies I preface by saying: I didn't read the comics.

As a moviegoer, I liked it a lot and it actually made me interested in watching the rest of the series. (I hadn't at the time, but my Ex GF frickherviolin dragged me there.)

Good for a night out.

Good enough for me, thanks

I never read/collected comic books, either. Don't have anything against them, though, and love comic book movies and such.

I'm in the exact same boat -- but when I talk to some of my friends they freak out.

"HOW CAN YOU LIKE THEM!? THEY'RE NOTHING LIKE THE COMICS blah blah blah."

So, I preface.

Yeah, I don't understand this line of thought, either

To me, the comic geeks freaking about about the canonical accuracy of movies fall in the same category as snobs who denigrate a movie just because it's not the EXACT SAME as the book.

Just take the books for what they are, and do the same with the movies. Not that difficult, but some folks haven't grasped this

I've never been a big book reader (I prefer writing to reading, creating to studying) but it always fascinates me that they don't understand that the two are different mediums. The same with comics -- while there's already a visual, it's simply a different way to tell a story or another way to tell a story. I'd much rather prefer that than literally watching exactly what I saw.

But I mean, if you just take Harry Potter -- some of those books could easily be over 4 hours and Game of Thrones is thicker than the Bible. Can't we all just enjoy stories however we want?

No. Apparently there must be a consensus on every fricking thing in the film medium. It's maddening

How has this gone 4 pages and no one has said A Few Good Men? I kept expecting to see it mentioned. My wife hates when it comes on because she knows I'm going to watch it.

I like AFGM, but it's not one of my repeat-ad-infinitum movies.
