Southern stereotypes come from the media and television generalization.
And the fact that most southern states top the obesity, uneducated, etc lists that we all poke fun at Mississippi for.
It also doesn't help that we have idiot fricks waving around a dumbass Northern Virginia battle flag because they want to be edgy fricks with lifted trucks.
Edgy fricks with lifted trucks. Someone should make something of that.
tl;dr: The south sucks for the most part.

I don't know what blacks getting uppity is supposed to mean to you. Is Colin K a black getting uppity? Two people could have a problem with what happened, only one could characterize it using that particular language, and neither would want to sick a dog and hose on them. Because that's a little bit different than using unacceptable language
