Would be interesting to know how more about the reason for the decline. The media will almost certainly spin it as a fear of rampant racism on campus, rather than prospective students avoiding PC run amok. Honest question: What do current MU students think is the breakdown between the two?

I can say that as a first year student two years ago (During the Ferguson Crisis) at Mizzou, I was left with a very sour taste in my mouth. I don't think I could've picked a worse time to attend the school I dreamed of attending since I was five.

My first semester art teacher called me out(in-class "discussion") as a racist because I wouldn't answer her bullshite question about white male privilege or provide my opinion on Ferguson. Not because I didn't already have an opinion on those matters, but because I feared that my opinion wouldn't be PC enough to not be called a racist. The discussion ended then afterwards when she said, "See white men do not care about the problems women and black people have because they think they're the superior race and gender." My jaw dropped and spent the last 15 minutes of class with my head down in disgust.

What I would've told her was that I'm all for racial equality but as far as "#BlackLivesMatter" goes I thought it was all just bullshite; as I do today.

I thought I was going to school for an education, to have fun, and to find myself before I go into adulthood. My experience at Mizzou hindered more than expedited that process as I literally spent the next semester and a half in pretty much isolation(my apartment) as the race riots and liberal media continued to flood the campus day after day.

I'm so glad I didn't witness the hunger strike riots from last fall in person. I might've had to become a full-blown Jayhawk fan.

Missouri currently has no chancellor, no president, no AD, a rookie head football coach, and a hoops program coming off a postseason ban.

Congrats!

From 2013:

quote:

Aggies on Monday got a pick-me-up on the heels of a football defeat. Texas A&M University announced that it took in a record-breaking $740 million in donations and pledges last fiscal year.
The amount is nearly $300 million higher than A&M's previous top year, and officials boast it is the highest amount ever raised by a Texas university.
The amount dwarfs the preliminary $453 million reported by the University of Texas during the same period, the previous best in the state.

Congrats on a successful final year (2014) in yall's big fundraising campaign! It's great that both A&M and UT are doing well!
