The Missouri River is an incredible float.

Don't forget that I've done the MR340 canoe race twice on that river, and that is a 4 day 4 night nonstop canoe endurance race.

Therefore, if I can navigate that river on night 2 and 3 while enduring extreme sleep deprivation, exhaustion, and dehydration, you all can easily navigate a lazy float.

The river is so big that it's like floating on a flat water lake. You can see the barges ahead of you for a mile or longer, and you'll hear them if they are approaching from behind. Simply paddle to the bank and allow them to pass.

You should worry more about wing dikes than barges, fwiw.

Never floated the Mo, I was part of a bunch of idiots that took a army surplus 6 man raft down a rain swollen Platte river once, river was angry! Later minus myself the same guys took the raft from St Joe down to St Lou, this would have been back in the late 70's, dudes got on TV too!

I floated the Elk River a few years ago had a blast! I also floated a few in Arkansas as well, especially the buffalo and white when I lived in Harrison.

IIRC you used to live out in North Carolina correct? I just moved out here and wondering if you knew any good places?

I've canoed the 11 point... Coolest American River I've been on.. I've been on a few 50+ mile canoe trips in Ontario, Canada and it doesnt quite beat that scenery though.

Not trying to rain on your parade but.....

Perhaps...but no one wants to be followed by billies lurking in the woods only to be butt raped a mile or so down the river.

So, you can't kayak Missouri rivers? If not, tell that to the couple hundred kayak racers who compete in the annual Missouri River 340 mile race.
