That is good that they condemned the attack. No snark, I do mean that.
My only "but" here would be that simply condemning violence doesn't necessarily make you a "moderate Muslim". To me, a moderate Muslim means you would also say that anyone should have full legislative right to draw the prophet Muhammad. I'm not saying moderates have to like it or even say it's not a sin, but you are certainly no moderate if you think there should be legislation on drawing a man.
Maybe the people behind the statement you linked would agree with me, maybe they wouldn't, but by and large I suspect that definition of moderate Islam I've outlined would thin the ranks of people who may describe themselves as moderate.

Good for them, but it kind of ignores the larger problem here.
Muslims who denounce the actions of "radical" Islam are actually defying their holy text. "Radical" Islam is TRUE Islam if we are going by the Quran and the actual tenants of the faith.
Muslims who denounce all Islamic violence are like Catholics who use birth control and don't believe in transubstantiation.
