He is suspected of having ties to a local cartel, and its believed that his prior trips to Mexico were to cut deals to move guns, or to actually move guns for the cartel.

So, like I said, there's more to the story, and for whatever reason it's not being reported by media outlets, whether the agenda is to hide something the admin is involved in, an opportunity to blame the president, or if it just hasn't been leaked. There is a reason its not getting out there.

Like I said, I'm 100% positive that there's more to this story. I live and work in the San Diego area, I have friends that work in PD, DHS, DIA, etc. It's well known in that particular community.

I've heard none of this, but let's assume that you're correct, are you saying this could be another Fast and Furious scandal, it seems to me that it's hard to keep things like a Marine being arrested for working with Mexican cartels a secret, in this day and age.

I'm just telling you what I've heard.

He was SUSPECTED, by both US and Mexican officials. Obviously, there is/was no concrete evidence, other than the fact that he had his guns in his car.

The fact that he was tried and not released soon after being taken into custody tells you there was more to the story.

Just take a step back and take a look at everything presented in front of you. Think about why he would even be in that position?

Regardless, he's been released, so we can all move on with our lives. Thankfully...

Not sure what kind of guns he had, but from what I've heard, they were legally purchased and registered handguns, that would be the stupidest gun trafficking operation ever if true

Yep.

But, there are some stupid arse people out there, especially in the military. After serving with some of them directly, nothing surprises me anymore.

It would surprise me if the cartels actually did business with this guy, assuming what you're saying is correct.

Why?

Maybe he got in a bad situation and had to cut a deal. Maybe he talked up his cache of weapons and sold them on a deal.

There are several reasons for something like this happening, and it happens more than you think. Whether its smuggling guns, drugs, or money, there have been cases involving military personnel.

I know. It just seems HIGHLY unlikely that something like this could be kept secret. Although, George Bush was able to orchestrate 9/11 and frame Al Qaeda, and the media never reported it, according to Sleeping Tiger.

I'm not saying this is some kind of grand conspiracy. I'm just saying he fricked up, there's more than meets the eye.

Maybe the story didn't come out for the simple reason that an agency would be giving up a bigger operation?

This is, in reality, a very small scale story, that became a political hot potato, revealing the whole story might have alerted cartels, etc. to intel that isn't known to those groups right now.
