It still does not account for the fact that 2x4's were actually 2x4 until some bastard tried to squeeze and extra board or 2 out of a log. Worked on houses and the old wood is pretty sweet. Sometimes rougher looking as well which makes for great "exposed" wood.

Why stop at Lowe's? There's not a building supplier in the entire country that sells an actual 2" x 4" board as a 2x4.

frick California. No offense to WestCoastAg, but this is lunacy.

OR... They are rough cut to 2x4 and then planed down to the common 1?x3.5
