Maybe overweight gays don't like "the scene" as much, but I never see many of them at gay bars-- so either gays are in better shape or the fatties don't go out.

I just let people do whatever feels right. I trust everyone always makes the right decision.

Outliers skew numbers. Aids isn't an outlier in the gay numbers.

But just because you're a dude and you like to suck dick, doesn't mean you have AIDs. It's like the Jews not getting killed by the Bubonic Plague because they washed their hands. The average life expectancy wasn't lower for Christians because they believed in a different fairytale... they just didn't clean shite.

But gay lifestyle drastically increases risks for such things

Possibly for some. Not all gays are wildly promiscuous and sexually irresponsible. That said, there's probably a decent amount of tPOS running drugs or committing violent crimes that do their fair share of bringing down a straight man's average life expectancy. The news recently here did a life expectancy map based on area code and areas with high crimes rates on average were something like 20 years less than their "better area" counterparts.

Kids bring down the straight man's life expectancy....oh and having to live with women. That goes unsaid, though.

Reading through this thread, it seems that being gay may actually be on-par with being black.

You can't choose to be black though. Well, not really.

Homosexuality isn't a choice.

Unless you're Ann Heche.

Not to thread hijack but Jesus wasn't real.

Okay, okay, kidding aside.

When people say it's not a choice, I believe it to some degree for some men. I have a cousin, who when he was around 8 I knew something was wrong with him. (We have a 3 year difference in age.) Maybe not 'wrong', because that word has baggage, but I knew he wasn't the same as I was.

Conversely, when I look at prison populations there seems to be a significant difference in homosexual behavior than the regular population. The numbers obviously don't match, and there are certainly phrases in which to identify these types of men. "Gay for the stay."

So while I think that it may not be a choice in some, for others it clearly seems to be that way.

Unless the prison population is just disproportionately homosexual.

You're confusing homosexuality with prison sex.

Too much arse, foot and mouth disease in the gay community.

Lot of weird drug use as well.

It's a fringy lifestyle whether some want to admit that or not.

Suicide rates take a pretty big toll. When a statistically significant portion of a relatively small population takes their lives before age 30, that really skews data.

The high rates of HIV in those who contracted it in the 80s and 90s also plays a big role.

As the younger generation of homosexuals becomes more accepted and the rates of HIV in their population continue to decline due to increasing safe sex practices, their lifespan will increase significantly.

So are you saying we all have these feelings but only a few 'choose' to act on them?
