This.

I do think that cities need to invest more in bike lanes but it still wont prevent idiots who text and drive from running into the bike lanes.

Sadly, you're right.. Some cities are researching taxing bike riders for these purposes but I don't see that happening either..

Kind of like this: I can be one of 20 people with a tag on a boat trailer but nobody gives a shite. Bikes would be the same way..

The bike lanes also get bikers hit by drivers turning right. I mean, do you ever look to your right when making a right turn?

I blame the bikers for that though. All together you weigh about 165 pounds and the cars are a solid 1000. I know drivers should be more attentive, but hitting you dents their car while you are likely going to the hospital.

It's been proven while even not on the phone that drivers don't look for Motorcycles or any vertical objects for that matter on the road.

I like riding a bike, but you'll never catch me on the road. I've lived through too much real shite to get killed like that..

looks like a market is starting to develop for my passenger side mounted, extendable punching glove...

They're doing this in Chicago for that reason. Cars can't turn when the bike lane is green. Still confuses the hell out of people though.
