Texas does have Willie Nelson
Willie is great and all, but Jim Dandy would put him into a coma during a smoke off.

Agree with that. There hardly is any country music anymore. It's guys with bleached white teeth and personal trainers singing pop music with southern accents - sad and disgusting.

There is, but it is coming out of Western Arkansas, Eastern Oklahoma, and Idaho of all place.

Definitely not. The local stations will play some throughout the day, they use to do red dirt hours but I do not listen enough to know if they still do.
The only thing Texas as going for it is you can usually catch a good act each week at Billy Bob's.

I'm a fan of Cash.
But I prefer these three gentlemen from The Lone Star state.
Just one opinion.

Most people don't realize the magnitude of Arkansas' musical legacy... From The King Biscuit Flour Hour out of Helena(longest running blues radio show in history) to KWEM Radio in West Memphis. Elvis, Howlin' Wolf, Albert King, and Cash were made famous through KWEM. Elvis' and Cash's first live radio performance was on KWEM....Sam Phillips from SUN RECORDS discovered Cash and others by listening to KWEM.

Johnny cash is the GOAT. No question. He took a nine inch nails song and made it BETTER when he was in his frickin 70's.
I'm not a country music fan but the guy is a straight legend in every since of the word.

And Texas will slaughter Arkansas if you want to compare musical greats.

Respect given for Arkansas music. Let us not forget the great Townes Van Zandt for Texas. Although that largely fits dale's point about the greats from Texas being well in the past.

Name me ONE native Texan in all of history with as much swagger as Mr. Cash. Also, As big as Texas is yall can't match lil ole Arkansas' legends ...Levon Helm, Al Green, Clinton, The Bear, Louis Jordan, General MacArthur, WHITEFEATHER, Colonel Darby, Switzer, Jimmy Johnson, Mark Martin, Jerra Jones..shall I continue?
Seriously? How about Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Buddy Holly, Don Henley, George Strait, all of ZZ Top, Lyle Lovett, Kenny Rogers, Robert Earl Keen, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Freddy Fender, George Jones, etc.
Dude, seriously?
