Possession of acid was made illegal in California in 1966 I believe. But was it ever available OTC? I sure don't recall that. Did the podcast say or show where he got the acid?

Don't know if anyone on here has ever seen this video. It was made while Morrison was a student at FSU. Hard to believe it's the same guy that sang in The Doors.

This isn't exactly news. He grew up as a military brat. I was a huge fan of the doors in my teens (like most I imagine), but you grow out of it, at least I hope people do. It's fun to revisit their music from time to time for pure nostalgia, but the music and morrison's "vision" is more hype than substance outside of a few tracks. However, the use of this is the end at the beginning of apocalypse now is still one of my favorite movie openings ever.

Every time The Doors come on the radio:
Me: I swear, I just don't get it. How did anybody ever like that guy?
Wife: It was those LSD people.

Had Morrison lived, he would probably be playing the state fair circuit with REO Speedwagon.

You're spot on.

I like REO better than the Doors, BTW.. Jim Morrison's songs had the same lyrical prowess as an AC/DC record. His shite wasn't deep. He was just a spoiled a-hole who torched his brain and looked cool as frick.

If I drank 2 liters of Vodka a day, only spoke in riddles and pointed crooked fingers at girls I wanted to frick I'd be called a hobo, not a mystic btw..

He wasn't a talent.

The Doors were pretty much already broken up when Jim died. I really think you're underrating the Bon Scott era of AC/DC. I like The Doors, but I don't think Jim was some lyrical genius. He just had a good voice for the music they played. REO Speedwagon is shite, though.

I don't hate or think the Doors suck, but I don't get the hype either. Even when real fricked up..

Technically, the guys in the Doors were damn good musicians particularly Ray.

I think most people, like myself, had no idea about his month spent on the rooftop eating oranges and taking acid.

As for the rest of your post, I'm not sure why you're telling me/us that.

I like the Doors. One group I get a lot of shite for not liking is the Beatles.
