Eastern Kentucky has been burning for several weeks. The rain is ending the drought and the fires! I hope it rains for several days.

I remember posting on here 4-5 years ago when we joined and numerous people constantly calling Texas "a drought stricken hellhole" shortly after wildfires tore through the state.

Glad you're getting some much needed rain.

texas is so big it's a lot of things all the time. year round.

chances are, a lot of these folks have driven thru a drought stricken hellhole segment or w/e. have family there etc. that's my best guess.

It hasn't rained AT ALL, not even a trace, in Tuscaloosa in about 70 days.

Just to put that in perspective, the longest dry spell prior to this was in 1924 over a period of 37 days.

The sky has been filled with smoke here in my area of SE Kentucky for about 4-5 weeks now. Someone I work with said the brush was on fire within 50 yards of her house over the weekend. Emergency crews were all out and about today. I feel like going out and running in the rain now. It's actually almost warm enough...

Didn't see the fires on Cheaha. Work schedule has me all messed up. I do know it was windy as frick today so that could not have been good for fire conditions
