Welp, Belle shut this place down already with a solid response.

Also, LOL at some of the Smith-related race responses.

I think he has a good point.
Don't start no trouble, won't be no trouble.
No one should ever hit a woman, but that doesn't mean that a woman should feel entitled to purposefully antagonize and provoke men because they know the man can't hit them back. I think it's just a very basic thing "Treat others the way you wish to be treated". It's very simple. If you don't follow it, well "play stupid games, win stupid prizes."

He has his moments (FWIW, he can be Skip-esque sometimes) but he's nowhere near Jemele Hill levels if you want to talk race baiting. She tried to start some shite in Lexington when UK got rid of Joker and claimed it was because of race.

Is every woman in an abusive relationship provoking it? Absolutely not. There are definitely many cases where women are unjustly abused. People like Beadle who automatically assume that's what he's talking about have some comprehension issues. And I'll even go as far to say the women who provoke that shite then cry abuse when they get a taste of their own medicine are taking away from women who are legitimately abused.

Exactly. Sure, some women provoke it, and even start it. That's trashy behavior. But lots of women are victims of violence for no good reason all. Any violent behavior, whether by a man or a woman, should be treated seriously.

Agree. I have no use for Jemele Hill. She reaches and tries too hard to fund the race angle on a lot of stuff.

Smith (and Bayless) play schticks for the most part. But when Smith does deviate from that, he tends to just speak his mind, not race bait. Watch a few of his non-first take/espn interviews and it's plain to see that he's actually very well grounded. Being over the top is a ratings hook, and it's been damn effective over the years for both he and Bayless, I have to say.

For that matter, so are lots of guys. We hear about the latter even less, though.

I agree. I just think we have to be careful trying to cast all the blame on one party or the other until all the facts are at hand. Lots of folks are quick to condemn one way or the other with little to no knowledge of context.

Beadle's response is exactly what i would expect from most of the women I know irl.

Bill Burr has a pretty good skit where he talks about how women basically have carte blanche to do what they want in a relationship and not take much if any heat from society.

Man hits you? He is obviously a psychopath.
Man cheats on you? He's an ungrateful arse hole who takes you for granted.

Woman hits you? She was obviously protecting herself and if you're a man you should be able to take it without retaliation.
Woman cheats on you? The man wasn't giving her enough attention or fulfilling her needs.

He basically boiled it down by comparing it to a house fire. If the house burns down (domestic abuse) sure the fire department comes and puts it out (assault charge on the man). But the fire department doesn't just pack up there shite and that's the end of it. There is an investigation into what ignited the fire in the first place.

In my personal experience I was pretty strongly verbally sexually harassed by a female coworker in college. This coworker would tell customers intimate, disgusting details of our sexlife (that did not exist). When I confronted management about it I was told it was kinda funny and to suck it up and be a man about it. There is definitely a double standard.
