Pop open the box and unscrew it. It's pretty easy. The box may have a tamper proof seal on it, and if that's the case he's fricked. Unless, he can order another seal. I would check and see if the seal has any markings or numbers on it first before I cut it off and ordered another one. The trap could also be on the pole, in that case he's not getting it off unless he's familiar and comfortable in that environment.
