Fish hooks inside the anus and let victim's family members slowly reel him in while dragging him behind an 18 wheeler with an exhaust problem.

He should go to prison. No solitary because I imagine that's more expensive and so he can get passed around by guys bigger than him as added punishment. No death penalty because for one I've always thought of that as the easy way out and that rotting for decades is far worse a punishment, and two the legal fees associated with all the appeals are more expensive than allowing him to just serve his life sentence.

Death would be the easy way out, he wouldn't suffer at all.
They should tell everyone in prison what he did and how he acted in court. Keep him in solitary confinement in a 6'x6' dark cell with no window 24 hours a day. The only time he can come out is every 3rd day, when he is brought into the yard or population and beaten to a pulp by other inmates. No going to infirmary, just straight back to the hole. He gets 2 meals a day, both of which are 2 pieces of white bread and a small cup of water.
After a few months of that he would go insane and probably try to off himself anyway. Killing him would be more gratifying for all of us and the family, but then he wouldn't experience any agony or suffering.
But if we're not talking realistic measures, then yeah I vote scaphism. That or that thing called a "something necklace" where they put a tire filled with gas around his neck and set it on fire.

Strip him naked, tie him up against a pole, stick a thin glass mixing rod up his urethra and have a 400 pound man in steel-toed boots tapdance on his dick. Then with his hands bound throw him in a room and give each family of the kids he killed an opportunity to elect a representative to spend ten minutes alone with him in a soundproof room with no guards or windows, the only stipulation being he has to be breathing when they come out. If he isnt, deem it an "accident". Assuming he's still alive at this point, tie his arse to a chair and shoot him in the kneecap. Wait an hour and take out the other knee, taking enough care to ensure he doesnt bleed out at any point. Wait another hour and take him outside, cover him in hot tar and those chemicals that make bugs go apeshit and throw a hornet's nest his way. After they go to town on him get a news crew and a live television spot and, with a broken dick, two blown knee caps, covered in tar and hornets and beaten half to hell, put a fricking bullet in his head on national TV.

Solitary confinement in a padded room with no way to commit suicide and for 2 hours a day whip him constantly on his back. One shitty meal a day. Also, cut his penis and balls off and sew the ballsack to his chin.
