Go to specialty running store. I thought I was an Asics or Saucony guy for years and years. Based on my pronation and fact that I'm a heel striker instead I got set up with a specific pair of Brooks (the Ravenna series) and they are now all that I will ever buy.

Ignore looks and go with what feels right on your feet. They're running shoes - who cares what your clothing looks like when you're running?

Get new running shoes every 6 months --- they aren't meant to last a year if youre running regularly.

I love my New Balance Minimus, but your calves will hurt like shite for the first week or two with them.

I would not go by months I would go by Mileage. Also if you can get two pair. Give them like your body to recover.

I got a pair of Brooks largely because of the width and arch support. They felt great at first but I'm not impressed with how they're holding up so far.

i like new balances for everyday life, but they have never held up that well as a runner or trainer.

i have on a pair right now that have lasted me in excess of a year and still look fairly new, but i don't exercise in them

Go to a running store and get measured/fitted. They'll watch your stride, etc. Also they rec getting about 1 full size bigger than your everyday shoes because of swelling while you run. I was fitted with the mizuno wave rider 17. They were in your price point. Check with experts would be my advice

Have the same shoe. Awesome fit and feel - have been using Mizunos for the past five or so years. I don't run as much as I used to...roughly around 20 miles in a week's time.

Not my experience, I only use mine for running and they have held up well. I WOULD NOT use these shoes, 860v4 for other than running.

Seconded. I plan on doing this to purchase my next pair and did this when I was in HS playing multiple sports. At the very least go somewhere that will evaluate your stride/step. You'll end up saving money in the long run.

Definitely try a specialty running store. You need to determine if you over, under or neutral pronate. They will also take into account the shape of your arches and the width of your feet. Some brands can be great for one person and awful for another as well. Some specialty running stores will let your return the shoes if they aren't working for you.
Sorry, off of my soapbox now. I've worked P/T in running specialty for 6+ years now, so I feel pretty strongly about getting fit correctly.
