If you're going to get the guitar to sound like Duane, you're going to need a marshall 50 bass head and two 4X12 marshall cabs with JBL D120 speakers.
He didn't use any effects outside of a fuzz box, he pretty much plugged straight into the amp.
Of course, you or me or anyone isn't going to sound exactly like Duane, because he was a god amongst men.
Also, save up for a back brace, those gibsons are heavy.

Save some money and get the Epiphone model of the Les Paul if you are looking to learn to play. If you like it then upgrade to the Gibson Les Paul. Many people do not like the heaviness of a LP . I own a Gibson Les Paul but I prefer my guitars to have some weight to them.
