One of my good friends growing up.

I used to tell this story all the time. So this was back when people played poker all the time like a decade ago. I was like 15/16, and my group of friends would play all the time. For whatever reason my friend came over to return poker chips or pick them up, I can't remember. Either way there ended up being a deck of cards all over the room. Maybe throwing them at a hat or something with my friend. No idea. I had to leave all of the sudden and I guess that's why I didn't pick them up. But for whatever reason, I can't remember exactly, I was gone for like a week. Maybe visiting grandparents or something. No clue. But when I return home after being gone for about a week, my mom was sobbing.

Mother: Is there something you need to tell me.
FaWx: No.
Mother: I found what you left me in your room.
FaWx: I didn't leave you anything. I have no idea what you're talking about.
Mother: I won't be mad. If you have something to tell me, just tell me.
FaWx: I have absolutely no clue what you're talking about.

She pulls out one the playing cards that was left in my room. It has written on it a message. Mom I'm gay

I started dying laughing. My mother is still in tears at this point.

FaWx: That isn't even my handwriting. I didn't write that.
Mother: I didn't know what else to think. I know it's not your handwriting but why else would it be there.
FaWx: Obviously ***** left it there I guess to play a joke on me. You really thought I was gay??!?!?
Mother: Well I didn't think so, I've seen your computer.

And that was usually the punch line of the story. My mother knew about all the naked women I was looking at which was mortifying. But the friend that wrote that came out about two years ago. It wasn't a shock. That event made me suspicious, as if it was some sort of pseudo cathartic event for him to come out, but all the signs were there. No lisp. But never had a girlfriend, and was always missing from normal vulgar banter guys say about women at that age. Once he came out, he lost a bunch of weight, and is doing really well. I'm proud of him.

Funny story. Hope you got revenge on your friend for upsetting your Mom.

Ha. No revenge. At that time given how homophobic young men are as a result of their insecurity about their sexuality, I never brought it up. Next time I see it I might ask him if he even remembers. I doubt he does.

I've been friends with several over the years. Some have been the coolest and most decent people I've ever known. But I still can't stand fruity, femme dudes. Like nails on a chalkboard.

a few. I love them to death and are great friends. One I met in boy scouts who came out in high school and he got his eagle and did not do boy scouts for the reason a few of you are probably thinking of.

Another is my mothers best friend whom I have grown very close too and he is married with his parter and is one of the funniest people I have ever met.

I know a few others but not well enough to host them at my house for a week

About 20 or so. Mostly customers and friends. Gay people love fresh produce from local farmers.

I was friends with a bi girl in college. Somewhat became friends with a few lesbians after college. I know two guys from high school that I suspect may be gay.

Actually, I'm 95% sure my supervisor over the last 4.5 years is a lesbian. Absolutely hated that she retired January 1.
