Gotta cut old people some slack, as there is neither rhyme nor reason for the majority of the things they do.

I normally cut about 5ft on either side of my property line just for good measure.

Meh, unless the property is in total disrepair, this is pretty overblown. An unkempt lawn isn't going to affect your property all that much. Worrying about it just sticking your nose where it doesn't belong.

What do I know though. I live in a nice subdivision and everyone around me uses a lawn service, so my yard is probably the shitty one. Nobody has ever said anything to me about it, and if they did I'd just laugh at them. Hasn't impacted any property values based on the selling prices of the 2 houses across the street from me that recently sold.

I'll agree that it doesn't affect the value that much. However, I'll be perfectly honest here.

Cutting the grass and keeping up my yard is one of my favorite things to do. I love the smell of fresh cut grass, and if you live around me, I will assume things about you and judge you if you do not keep yours up to a reasonable standard.

That's really what it boils down to, and I really don't want to live around people that can't keep up their yards. This goes for white, black, purple, yellow, red, and all different color peoples. Figured I'd cover that because I'm about to get called a racist.

That's fair, and is probably why a few of my neighbors never talk to me. My yard is kept up, but there are times I'll skip edging, or the beds are a mess, or the hedges need trimming. I enjoy yard work, but keeping it pristine isn't very high on my list of priorities. Come to think of it, I haven't put new mulch down in probably 2 years.

Oh shite, I didn't mean like professional kept up. What you're doing is plenty for me, I do a little more, but all I ask of neighbors is to look like you give a shite.

I thought you were just like frick it and I don't GAF who thinks it looks bad.

I definitely DGAF what other people think, but I give a enough of one to keep it somewhat presentable. Truthfully, if I didn't have kids I'd keep it looking a lot better. I have a big yard that takes me the good part of a day to cut, edge, blow off, etc., and I'd rather spend my weekends being Super Dad.

Take Gasoline and spell out, mow your yard

Every time they look at the dead grass they'll be reminded.

My thoughts as well....

We mow every two weeks cause I don't want to pay the kid next door any more than I have to. Plus, my neighbors on both sides cut every two weeks as well, so I really don't worry about it. The grass gets LONG really quickly, and looks worse than that pic at the end of a week and a half. We don't even water.

I suggest you go speak with the neighbor. If they dont do anything then, then burn a cross on their yard.

Disagree. I know when we were looking at houses, if we drove in a neighborhood where the yards were in disrepair, we kept on going. We work pretty hard at having a nice home and nice yard.

I dont want to live next to some shithead who is too lazy to take similar care of his open property. I especially dont want to live next to renters who do not give a frick. I wont live in a neighborhood with rental houses for just this reason. And thats not all on the renters. Lots of landlords are assholes at keeping rental properties in good condition.
