This Dad has incredible reflexes. All I've ever had to do is yank one of my boys out of traffic. You turn your head for oooone second...

I know baseball is boring and all, but that will teach the kid for being nose deep in his phone.

Kudos to the dad though.

All the time when I'm with my nephew.

One time I went into the most pointless dad mode ever. We were outside my dad's house playing catch, and it was really windy, and we hear some very loud cracks coming from the trees above us.

Instinct takes over, and I run to shield him from what surely is a tree falling. It was a branch, 20 yards away.

Then it occurred to me, if a fricking tree fell on top of me while I'm shielding him, we're both pretty much dead.

I think it was his first game and he was checking stats. He had no clue the bat was coming right at him.

You would still have been a hero. A dead one but...

I grew up in a big family, too, so I understand.

I was at the younger end, though, and I was a handful for my older siblings.

The first night we brought our son home. I was sleeping next to him with my arms surrounding him. I guess I felt my wife move/roll a little bit so I put an arm up to block her and almost pushed her off the bed. I have no recollection of that. She told me the next morning.

Proof that men have that parental instinct, too.

Is this thread for non-parents only? Otherwise, I go into dad mode every time a boy looks at my little girl.

She's 4.

Wait 'til she's 16. When are you going to let her start dating?

Does it count that I was lecturing my dad the other day and he said "thanks dad?"

Saved two kids from drowning on two separate occasions. They weren't my kids but my kids were there at the time. Both times it occurred because their parental supervision were not paying attention.

Glad to see Jordan Peele and Bill Walton could make it to the game.

Sunday lunch with about 12 people at a table in a crowded restaurant. My 6 year old boy is about 4 people down the table from me and I'm talking to another dad across the table, we are at the end of the table. The waitress is to my right and we are ordering. Out of the corner of my eye, to my left, I see a flash. Without looking, I snatch a flying fork from the air with my right hand, saving the waitress from a fork to the face. Total Matrix style. The look on the faces of the other dad and the waitress was awesome.

TL:DR version- My kid launched the fork from down a crowded table and with my ninja-like reflexes, I snatched from the air to save a life.
