First of all I appreciate any local info. frick all you dicks who feel the need to respond with something negative about myrtle beach.
My daughter has a travel volleyball tournament at myrtle beach sports facility. It's close to a Hyatt where we are staying.
Looking for some "non" tourist places to check out while we are there. Kid friendly. Restaurants in particular. If they serve alcohol and the food is on point I'm in.
Thanks in advance.

For four straight days in the summer of 1994 I ate a bunch of lsd while there. It's the only time I've ever been. So, I recommend acid or at least shrooms. The volleyball tournament may get a little weird so save a few Xanax in case you need to take the edge off.

Have a great trip!

Good point. Can you please post pics of the moms? Critical in the recommendations.

Seriously I'm not finding a whole hell of a lot that looks interesting on the web. I'm not trying to get involved in a medieval times dinner. Boat guide places are closed for the winter.

Damnit man need some help from a local here.

I'm not local but I grew up nearby, so I'm pretty familiar with it.

What kind of food are you looking for? Breakfast, lunch, dinner?

Do not care man. I want to avoid the Olive Garden down the street.

Also if you're looking to go fishing, see if Capt Smiley is around this winter. If not, look at OIFC.com. It's a few miles north in NC, but they're running charters all winter, and you're fishing a lot of the same areas anyway.

I would pay good money to get a tour of the area on a boat. Kids aren't interested in the fishing part of it. Might be worth it for a local fisherman to drive us around for an hour for a few hundred bucks

My favorite place down there is Sun City (Mexican food). If you want something a little nicer I'd suggest Flamingo Grill. For Italian, try Ciao or Crave. New York Prime has the best steak.

Then other places I like are Dagwood's, Liberty Tap Room, Bagel Factory, Burky's.

If you've got time to kill and are willing to drive a little the Marsh Walk in Murrell's Inlet has several good restaurants, and it's a good place to grab a few beers.

Where is this Hyatt? North Myrtle? Myrtle? or south? The grand Strand stretches for 60 miles.
I'm not sure what you really mean by "non tourist" places, since any place a tourist visits would be considered a tourist place. Maybe you could check out a library?

All kidding aside, what type of place? Shopping? low country restaurants? golf?
