We go there 2-3 times a year. Love it up there. Going for the whole week over Thanksgiving.

We don't Gump too hard when we're up there. I bring my nice Walmart t-shirt and my church pants.

Holy frick. Pigeon Forge looks like a combination of PCB Beach and the Alabama State Fair (this is not good). What a shithole. I hope Gatlinburg is better.......

Gatlinburg is insanely touristy and crowded and trafficky and tacky and trashy and rednecky and awesome and fun

to escape familial responsibilities, I run and hide in the arcade and blow a few hours under the guise of "christmas shopping." Then I give my tickets to the nearest kid I see.

What the crap, I've always had fun in gatlinburg. Of course it's touristy get over it and eat your pancakes and sausage. Ski a little, the tram up the mountain is awesome, go see a silly show.

Go to UberGatlinburg and go ice skating. Your kids will love that shite. You will also wonder how that many terrorists got in the mountains.

You will also be entering The Airsoft Mecca. Along with all things Ninja you should be able to build your arsenal.

Try this place if you have some down time for a beer or two. Off the beaten track and gets you out of the hectic Gatlinburg mess.

What's better about Highlands, NC? Might look at it or Asheville for a trip next year.

Pretty good observation but way less fun if you hate shopping and geegaws.

1. It's smaller. The main part of town is about 2 or 3 blocks.

2. It's not commercialized. Most of the businesses are locally owned, and there are very few, if any, chain establishments.

3. For me, it's easier to get to. It's only a 4-5 hour drive from Birmingham, depending on Atlanta traffic.

4. Fabulous restaurants, as opposed to overpriced junk in Gatlinburg.

Basically, comparing it to the beach towns, it's like Seaside compared to PCB. There are some ridiculous houses up there.
