Athens has a Cookout and Five Guys. Five Guys is in another arena entirely (though Cookout is good for the relatively low price you pay).
Backyard Burger is basically non-existent in GA now. Haven't had it in years.
And Whataburger? More like Whatapieceofcrap.

Five Guys is one of the most overrated eating establishments I've ever dined at. Everytime e I've been there, the burger is dry and overcooked. I'd rather go to Wendy's or Hardee's.

Agreed.
The burgers are comparable (the bun at In-N-Out is superior, but the meat and cheese are pretty identical at both and Five Guys has more toppings) but Five Guys wins because their fries are MUCH better.

Really want to try In-N-Out burger but the best burger I've ever had is from five guys so I'm sticking with that

I would take a Whataburger over any of those. Now the 5 guys fries are better but if I had a smash, 5 guys, in n out, fat burger, and back yard all together, I'd go a mile down the road to get a Whataburger.
ETA: I like them all and would eat any of them happily. Let's not pretend any of them are McD's Carl's jr, Dairy Queen, or Burger King.
