What I take issue with is the rumor that they didn't have to meet the same standards. If that's the case, then they absolutely don't belong. If they did meet the same standards as men, they do belong.

There is a separate standard for any women in all branches. To think there wouldn't be a separate standard here also is just childish.

There shouldn't be. When I was in, I passed male APFT standards easily. So do a lot of other women.

It's not childish to hope that they actually maintain the same standards for both sexes.

You do know that most military units are mixed units, right? That's not even an issue.

CatFan is 100% right.

I've met very few women who passed the male standards "easily". Sit-ups are the only event where they are competitive. For push-ups and sit-ups a barely passing score for men is maxing, or close to it, for women. There are a few women out there that hang with males but not many.

Army officials insisted the standards were not changed in any way.

Also, on the NBC news tonight the retired Army general who is a consultant (failed to get his name) for the show said the standards for the men and the women were exactly the same.

It seems that the two women who completed the rigorous training are for real. Congratulations to them and the other soldiers who earned their Ranger Tabs.

Congrats to these women.

On a completely unrelated note, does the military do gender verification?

The women were not held to the same standards as the Men.

They failed several phases and could not complete The Darby Queen.

The Female recruits were given non RI handlers that walked the lanes with them.

The CG was out there every morning to ensure female recruit success.

This is Obamas giant F U to the Army, payback for Bergdahl.

I am glad they made because they spent a lot of Army money preparing and retesting. I was a bargain as I went straight through

The class officially graduated today. As you can imagine the Ranger community is ablaze with conspiracy and claims of betrayal. Here is rivalry humor!

the social acceptance shite doesn't really have a place in a might military. If they had finished the normal standard then good they belong. However, turning the exercise into a participation trophy is wrong.

I agree 100% with this statement. Good on them if they met the same standards as the men but dropping standards to force a few through is bullshite. The same thing with the firemen a few years ago talking about dropping standards because not enough women were making it through. The problem with all of this is that a. it isn't equal and b. fires and enemies don't give a shite about equality.
