The kid in the very back looks like he is floating.

I love photos like that. And when I watch videos of soldiers returning to their families, I cry like a little baby.

I love threads like these, just because I like badass pictures. Sports, historical, nature, whatever..I just like cool pictures. So for those of you like me I'm about to provide you with several hours of time wasting.

LINK 1 - The aforementioned thread on the OT. It's basically just a shite ton of historical pictures, some famous, some not. Many have captions detailing their significance.

LINK 2 - Not historical, but this is a year old link to some websites 75 best pictures of the year. Some are lame, but a lot are really cool.

LINK 3 - Yes I know it's a foreign website, WGAS. This might be my favorite of the 3..it's photos of famous people before they were famous. Really cool link.

If I'm not mistaken, there was a lot of controversy around this photo. This wasn't a couple, in fact..they are complete strangers. The sailor was somewhat drunk and just grabbed the nearest female and planted one on her. I think I read that there was some serious talk about her taking action against him for harassment. It's funny that all that is pushed to the wayside and it's considered such a sweet, iconic picture.

I highly doubt it considering they aren't even positive who the woman was, and have no idea who the sailor was. And the woman who is most widely credited, though still unproven, with being the kissee said that, " she might as well let him kiss her since he fought for her in the war."

Ok thanks. Like I said I was posting that from what I thought I remembered, definitely didn't mean to pass it off as fact.

Sometimes the way I type comes off as being a dick, and I don't realize it until I go back and read it. Sorry if the previous post was one of those times

Yes, and it's too bad that she felt the need to completely overreact after the fact. He doesn't seem all that menacing, nor does she seem to be having a horrible time in this photo. It's an incredible shot capturing the spirit of that particular time in history.

I hope this is the case and not that ridiculous levels of pc concerning "harassment" will taint this photo.

So do I. To me he represents such innocence amid such a horrendous event. With all of the complicated and controversial circumstances surrounding the assassination of JFK, it also reminds me that this was just a little boy whose father had been taken from him.
