My father was a very emotional man and crying was a way to bond with my brother and I. I could understand how strange this might be for some people. It didn't have to be about anything or have any real situational reason. It was just pure and energizing.

My father didn't believe in spankings but apparently being spanked is okay while crying together is "weird".

This is further proof of how messed up society has become. If someone posted a thread saying, "Who all remembers getting a spanking as a kid?", almost everyone would reply about how being spanked enhanced their character. But crying?

If you can seriously cry on cue like that then I suggest talking with an acting agency.

I think this is healthy. And thanks for sharing. I think I've cried with my father once. Only hugged like three times in my life that I remember.

When we would go on family vacations which consisted of a long time spent driving, we would sometimes cry (except Mom, she was driving) to pass the time, like a game. Dad would initiate it by whining and pawing at his seat belt strap and my brother and I would just start bawing and we would continue crying for about half an hour

Your dad was Dick Vermeil, right?

I cried with my father when my mother passed away. They had been married 47 years. Does that count?

The only time I've seen my dad cry I cried with him.

My brother had just died.
