yep and so does my son. allows us to carry on same/similar family name but not all go by it. that would get confusing

dad's first name is Jonathan, goes by John
my first name is John, go by my middle
son's first name is Jonathan, goes by middle

I do. Parents wanted me to have the same initials as my dad, but didn't want to call me junior. So I've got the same first name as my dad, but a different middle name. Just starts with the same letter. I appreciate it, because my first name sucks.

Essentially this for me and my brother. Going back to my grandfather, we share the same initials.

We share our father's names, I got his middle and he got his first name. Though both of us go by our middle names.

I go by a family nickname, as my first and middle names are far too white to use in general conversation. I use my initials for business, though.

ETA: I am the third, too, so it helps eliminate confusion.

Right here. First name is Richard so I go by my much younger sounding middle name. Parents intended for that to happen. It is frustrating as hell because "Richard" is listed on every type of document my name is on so I have to go by that sometimes a lot too.

This question does not apply to Jrs, IIIs and so on. Those are understandable.

These also have their own problems.
