Do you think the Horses in Olympics know they've done a good job?

Just watching these amazing horses jumping these obstacles and sometimes don't even knock anything over.
When they do it perfectly the crowd watching goes wild with applause. My question is do you think the horse is proud and knows he's done a good job?
Serious question

I think so.. They can tell when a rider is tense, get amped up when the crowd is around, etc.. I figured they'd know the difference between disappointment and 100 neck pats and a hand job once back in the stable.

The horse takes its cue from the rider just as a dog does when performing. Happy rider, happy horse. Whether or not the horse associates the level of applause with its performance? Maybe, but I doubt it.

You're from KY. I'll take your word for it.

Absolutely not. I'm sure there are people here with horses. Jumping riders maybe even?

Also looks like USA is in good spot for Silver medal right now.

That's what I had always been told.

Absolutely. Horses are incredibly intelligent. They know when they've done good though I doubt it's as a result of crowd applause.

All horses must be at least 9 for Olympic Equestrian. By that time they are self aware. Maybe 1-3 like horse racing not as much.

Thanks for the answers. I was impressed with these horses today.

I think they realize their performance is the difference between a long life on a stud farm or a short truck ride to the dog food plant.
