I'm getting married in September, and 1 of my 5 groomsmen is a childhood/HS friend. The rest are from college. I don't have much in common with most of my old HS friends.

No... I live in the city and my parents moved from my hometown which is about an hour and a half away... I have work and kids and bills and shite too.

Yes. Still very close with my entire group of friends that I grew up with.

I had two buddies from high school in my wedding. They are really they only two that I talk to on a regular basis.

I do. I graduated in 2001 and I'm 33 now, but some of my best friends in high school are still my best friends today. One lives in Birmingham, one lives in Germany and a couple live around the Tuscaloosa area. I still try to talk to them at least once every couple of weeks and we hang out when we can.

Left home at 17 right after high school graduation. Graduated in 69 and have only spoken to maybe one or two since that time and don't keep up with any of them.

Do you keep in touch with high school friends?
Social media makes it easier to "keep in touch" with people nowadays.

I keep up with some. I'll try to hit them up when I go to their town. However, my 10 year reunion is this summer just 15 minutes away from me and I'm not going.

To me this is the sole purpose of Facebook. Nice tool, since I've been 400+ miles away for 30+ years.

Nah. Most people you meet are just passing through your life temporarily. It's great if you can meet the type of people that you can get along well with from high school until adulthood though.

through social media. It's kind of interesting to see what's happened to them over the years.

No unless they contact me first.
I was one of the only ones to leave Fayetteville to attend college elsewhere, so I lost touch. But when Katrina hit and I got home, they did reach out, as they called my mom to check on me, not knowing I was in town.

Not till recently when our state championship basketball team had a 40 yr reunion. The old yearbooks were brought out, and looking back at the so called "hot chicks" in our class, God if I only knew then what I know now bout such chicks. And this was even before the sexual revolution exploded.

Just two. Occasionally when I go on Facebook, I'll see what some old pals are up too, but really everyone just went off and did their own thing.
My closest friends I've made have been in college.

graduated HS in 1990. I am still very close with 4. We talk by text multiple times most every week. Once a year we take a fishing trip together for several days.
We were all in each other's weddings and pall bearers in a few of our parents funerals.
They're like brothers to me.

Some friends I rarely see, but I still hangout with the core group of four. We always go on a road trip at least once a year. Usually we head to a beach in Florida but a couple years ago we went to New Orleans

High school FRIENDS? I can't think of any that I talk to any more.

Do you still talk to people you knew in high school?
Yes, but they are mostly younger than I am by a year to 5 years. One of my best friends now is a little brother to a guy I didn't get along with in high school that was a year older. My group of friends now is a guy that is a year younger, 5 years younger, and a few in between. I have a few really good friends that I met in college that I see a good bit too that live a few hours away.
My best friend since sixth grade stayed my best friend through college, through his first marriage and his first kid and then we drifted away. He got mad when I told him his wife would lose respect for him when he quit his job to take care of the kid. When it came to happen and she cheated on him with a guy he worked with he wasn't happy with me and we haven't talked much since.
