Any time I hear something like this brought up, I think of this video.

This pisses me off

I say torture the hell out of them. If they give bad info then drop em off in the middle of the ocean and let them try to swim back.

I always wonder about this. Let's say it does produce bad intel, is it bad intel because we've got the wrong guys and they're just telling us something to stop fricking with them? If so, that's a problem. If it's guys that will take some simulated drownings and keep their shite inside because they will do anything to make sure Americans die, then I'm a little less likely to think it's a moral issue.

I think that is definitely part of it. When you are kicking in the door of a house of some dude who planted some IEDs to feed his family and is only a religious fanatic because it pays the bills, then you have the wrong guy. And it happened quite a bit in Iraq...the prisons near Baghdad (Abu Ghraib) and Camp Bucca in southern Iraq were overfilled with all these "terrorists".

I get that torture sometimes produces good results, but that doesn't make it right. Torturing another human being should never be accepted, and I think it's telling that so many in our society are ok with it. Using Muslim extremist's action as justification for us to torture is a very silly and hypocritical way of thinking.

quote:

Also, what is torture? Is it waterboarding and things like waterboarding? We should talk about that. If it's feeding them pedialyte and bread and not giving them prayer mats or something, then it's not torture in my opinion. Especially in the light of what they'd do/have done to Americans on the other end.

Good question. I'm no expert on techniques, but any torture is ultimately mental no matter how it is inflicted. I think some underestimate how powerful pure Psy ops are. But yeah, Im not sure what is being called torture but I doubt prayer mats and shite like that have much to do with it.

Scrooster

My honest opinion is if we have captured the enemy then by all means possible do what needs to be done to get any information that could save American lives. <-- Period

While I'm at it when we as a country go to war and for lack of a better word frick up their shite, to hell with rebuilding thier shite I have never understood that. If we rebuild it damn it then we become at least partial owners... frick em. As it stands now if I were the ruler of a lil shite country I would jump all over the US in hopes they push our shite in so I can get a brand new country.

OK I'm done give me a break its 06:00

Oh, except for the little known fact that not a single person implicated in the report was even interviewed by this biased slanted far left wing liberal committee.

Make sure you pack in enough ad hominem buzzwords to really get your point across. It's extremely convincing when you slander the people reporting it rather than tackling the arguments on their merits.

BTW this is a Senate Intelligence Committee report, not some goofball document written up by interns at Mother Jones. If you know anything a/b the Hill, you'll know that committee staff are the most well-educated, professional, and typically longest serving professional employees on the Hill. They serve on either the minority or majority side, but they are neither "far left" or "far right," and they don't have discretion to just report whatever the hell they feel like it (which is why the last ostensibly politically motivated far-right House select committee on Benghazi had to report that they found jack shite rather than takedown the President).

quote:

Yeah, and so? I'm mentally tortured every fricking day by the idiots that have been bred in this country who are now destroying it piece by piece.

I'm mentally tortured every single day by this lying sack of shite POTUS and his far left wing liberal cronies in congress who are now trying to get their licks-in during their last days in power when they could have done this 2, or even 4, years ago.

I'm mentally fricking tortured every single day knowing that this country has been fundamentally transformed to fail within the next quarter century ... and by "fail" I mean collapse.

This is about the destruction of one more of our institutions all under the bullshite hypocritical guise of "morality" and "high ground." All by a bunch of lying pieces of shite on both sides of the fence ... for political purpose.

What this was is an attempt to deflect attention away from the Jonathan Gruber affair and the fact that the POTUS and the outgoing congress lied to us, to our faces, about Obamacare, among many many many other things.

The bad part about all of this ... this will cost American lives.

This screed says to me that you need to read more widely and think harder. You're a useful pawn, though, to people who make money selling the crap you regurgitate so faithfully.

I am all for it. I don't care if they take them to the White House Lawn, set up cameras for a live feed then shove a cattle prod up their arse and hold the button down till the information comes out. I don't even care if they kill them while they are doing it.

They are beheading people and we have pussies worried about scaring someone by fake drowning.

Do you believe the CIA should be allowed to torture Al Qaeda and ISIS captives in order to garner intelligence in an effort to keep this country safe in today's modern world?

Define torture.

Bonus question: Do you believe the timing of the release of this report is politically motivated? If so, to what end?

Yes. To shift the focus from the dumpster fire of foreign and domestic problems back onto that old, reliable whipping boy: the previous Bush administration. The next step is going to be that the detentions further radicalized these Muslim nutbags, thus giving rise to ISIS and the expansion of ISIS, Al Qaeda, and similar organizations throughout the world, so this is all Bush's fault.

The irony being that the "terrorists" use pretty much the exact argument for beheadings. Here, I'll show you ...

"If beheading an infidel to demonstrate that we are serious will save thousands of lives from drone attacks then have at it. The Western nations that are bombing our women and children are sickening people and deserve all the hell they can get."

Round and round we go ... it's the ultimate "circle of suck"

Here's a helpful infographic. As you may notice, in many cases, the torture netted zero useful intelligence to "save thousands of lives" ...

Do you really think they would stop beheading people if we stopped droning them? They kill people because women try to go to school. They are a degenerate segment of the world's population and should be hunted down like the animals they are and killed.

Ahhh yes... the New Republic. That bastion of independent, non-biased reporting.

I'm not a fan of the publication, it's just an idiot's guide to some of the more damning lies. If you have a problem with that, read the report. Here, I'll link it for you. You can skip ahead to page 488 in the .pdf, Appendix 3, that lays out the conflicts of Hayden's testimony v/s the findings from the evidence ...

LINK

The first 200 pages of the .pdf are the meat of the report. From there to the appendix is a lot of analysis of further details.

Don't resort to logical fallacies. What do you dispute a/b the info provided in the infographic?

I doubt it would be much different. The bullshite isn't going to end until Arabs decide they won't stand for the horrors anymore and kicks them the frick out.

Yes, yes... I'm sure you read it all last night. Again:

How about you, instead of posting something from my bathroom trash can, pull your own info from the report for us all to see?
