Is say that city needs to be burned to the ground, but if rather the gangs stay there, as it's a city I will never visit.

Chicago is one of the greatest cities in the country. Most of the gun crimes are limited to the south side of the city, which is where most of the ghetto and gangs are. But by all means, lets burn a great city down.

what would be the reason for such violent crime?

Failed Gov't policies. Failed Dem policies to a larger degree.

Entitlement programs, creating dependence on Gov't, welfare programs that reward child birthing for more money, lack of accountability, poorly educated... all contribute to the problems in Chicago, and across much of the nation. This is why gun control will never work. And it's why politicians will never address crime, other than to attempt to demonize lawful gun owners and ownership. They know if they address the real issues, they won't be able to continue to enslave a large portion of their base and keep in power.

i don't like blaming the "other party" or one party in particular, but Chicago and Detroit are pretty blanket Democratic run cities. While Chicago is awesome for a lot of things, the politics and gang problems are pretty rampant.

You can flip and say the backwoods south is the flip of when fundamental Christian republicans run everything, but a lot less people die in one of those scenarios.

You live in Atlanta. All cities are great comparatively.

Whatever you say.

My guess is that you hate all cities, just like you hate tipping people that perform a service for you and think that anyone who doesn't like Lee Greenwood should burn in hell.

I understand what you're saying. In the South, the Dems controlled it for quite a long time. Just in the last 20 to 30 yrs has it become a Republican stronghold though. But yes, both parties are responsible for a lot of things. But as you stated, in Chicago and Detroit.. they have been Labor Union and Democratically controlled for so long, and in such a large majority, there is nobody else to blame.

Politicians play the race and class warfare card, from both sides of the aisle, and the majority of folks lap it up. As long as they can blame someone else for their failings and get something for nothing, there won't be any significant changes. People forget, willfully or blindly... that you have to sacrifice something to achieve something of value. Whether it time, hard work.. whatever. Nothing is truly free. They are paying for their lack of sacrifice to the community and neighborhoods as a whole while they took, took, took. Now the chickens are coming home to roost. And it'll be a nationwide phenomena when immigration, welfare, Obamacare and the rest of the entitlements are no longer sustainable and there is nobody left to take from.

This is not the issue. The issue is lack of a counter balancing party to keep the one in power honest. It doesn't matter if it's Chicago or Detroit, South Carolina or Louisiana... HUMANS possess the traits of venality and corruption, not parties. If there isn't a strong opposition party to act as a watchdog and temper the policy objectives of the party in power, shite will hit the fan really quickly.

really? where's the one-sided conservative mecca where people are killing one another with as much frequency?

i'm not saying that there isn't corruption from republicans running things (Thad, Vance McCallister, etc) but it tends to look a little different.

We get semi-automatic, they get Automatics.

We start wearing Kevlar, they start buying armor piercing rounds.

... And you're wearing a mask.

Geez, ASSume much do you?

I never said I don't tip people who serve me. I said I don't tip those that make $60 an hour.

Most waitstaff make under $3 an hour by comparison. So who really needs that 50% tip so many are apt to give a stylist?
