As long as we’re keeping an open mind about this kind of thing, my personal preference of Soup is more along the lines of :

Soup is hot.

Cereal is not.

Soup doesn't have to be hot.

I do not believe so. A burger isn't filled with what is considered sandwich meat.

BUT.... I'd be willing to bet, when a layman hears the word "soup", they expect it to be warm/hot.

When the layman hears the word "cereal", they expect a room temperature or colder liquid that accompanies said cereal aka milk.

For example, when/if you ever drink sake, do you expect it to be hot or cold?

Chili? Is that hot or cold?

Technically, one can eat it at any temperature, but that doesn't mean it has that reputation.

A large bowl (same with cereal - hot or cold)
