I know what I want spec-wise, but where's the best place to get a laptop with just the OS and IE (or any browser) without any of the other embedded bullshite? I want to embed my own bullshite.
TIA

it will be easier to just wipe it clean and do a fresh windows install. it takes longer to download updates now, than install a fresh os

I assume I do that with just the license key that comes with it?
ETA and IE is embedded in Windows right? So I'd have that with the OS re-install?

Any lenovo, regardless of the shite about superfish and other bloatware, will work for you.
Easily the best quality for the price you can get.

I know you're looking at Lenovo, but give HP Envy a look

imma let you finish, but Lenovo is the greatest pc maker of all time.
i'm literally repairing my MiL's HP sitting next to me while i haven't had to wipe my lenovo once since the first wipe i did on it when i bought it 4 years ago.
seriously. i will never buy another windows laptop not lenovo (maybe one of dell's new XPS units. those are the shiz)
i know you said you know your specs... but 8 GB Ram, I7, and SSD are the only way i'll ever upgrade. seems like the one the OP put has good stats, but i'd see what you can do to get a SSD instead. that being said, it's a good price. i bought an enteprise one for a guy at work with similar specs from the manufacturer for about $1200.
i like 10 pretty well. i've had a few things with Edge that i don't like, but it's mostly good. better than 8 for sure.

I see you're looking into a Lenovo and won't try to talk you out of it. If the recent Superfish adware scandal doesn't do it then I sure can't.
Maybe this is fixed, I dunno. Unless you're buying direct from Lenovo though, I'd be skeptical. For what it's worth, I'm on my 3rd Toshiba in a row and have loved 'em all. They've all been hotrods.
