Bringing my mom home from the hospital

and putting her into an in home hospice setting.
Uterine cancer first dagnosed 3 1/2 years ago. Surgery and radiation follow up
6 month checks
4 weeks ago it was discovered to have metasticized to liver, lungs, and spine.
She did 10 rounds of radiation and a round of light chemo and it just knocked her on her arse. I didn't know it was terminal until a couple of days ago; the chemo was meant to manage pain but it wiped out any quality of life.
This has been a whirlwind of activity in order to get things ready. I'm at peace with it and I'm in the mode of getting shite done that needs to be done. Hard to say how I will take it once the finality comes.

I hope you both can find some peace. How old is she if you don't mind my asking?

All I can say is I wish you and her (as well as her family and friends) peace in her finals days. Say your goodbyes and value every moment you have with her.

Sorry to hear that. It's tough losing a parent. Lost my mom in 2009. I hope when her time comes, it's peaceful and without pain and that you're able to be there with and for her. Prayers and condolences for you and yours and hope you find comfort in your faith and family.

Sorry to hear that man.
FWIW, I cannot emphasize enough how much better home hospice is compared to a nursing home, skilled nursing facility, hospital, etc.
Make her comfortable. Try to enjoy the time you still have with her (easier said than done, I know).

I will pray for her and your family, one of my best friends lost the 10 year fight 3 and half years ago. Just make her comfortable and no matter how much you prepare and make peace with it, it sucks.

Best of luck to you and your family. I went through that with both of my parents. Love on her all you can.

Prayers to your family. My wife is in her second bout with breast cancer that has metastasized to lungs, brain and liver. Starting new clinical trial next week. Chemo no longer working.

Sorry to hear about your wife too
Reading threads Like this just reminds me of how much I have to be thankful for and how blessed I am and how I should stop bitching about the most trivial things

So sorry to hear this Jobu. I can only hope you're able to make the most of the days you have left with her. We've used Hosparus up here in those cases and they provided a really wonderful service. Prayers for you.

Hospice is good people in my experience
Just hold her hand and tell stories between you. Should bring good feelings down the road when you will need them.
T&P to you and your mom.

I lost my dad last Weds. He died from heart disease and was at home with hospice for a over a month. I was fortunate to be able to spend three days a week with him as he couldn't be home alone. It was a blessing for both of us.
This isn't a time for regret. Do whatever and say whatever you feel like needs to be said or done. We had some family members that were in denial of the situation that didn't do everything they wanted to do with him. That's hard to live with.
Hospice is a calling. I have no idea how they do that job. Whatever they pay them isn't enough. Angels.
