He told a tall tale to make himself sound cooler than he really is. If that makes him a sack of shite, then literally every living adult is one.

Why is this such a story? A prominent member of TV fabricated a story to get the American public riled up.
Criticizing it is really dumb. Unless you think Honey Boo Boo or Kim and Kanye are news.
Let it go and move on.

It's a story because he works for NBC, and this site is dominated by posters who inherently hate NBC for ideological reasons.
If the exact same story came out about say, Sean Hannity, this would be a non-story on this site save for a thread or two by a bleeding heart liberal in which dozens of people make excuses for the lie.

There are tall tales, and then there is saying your chopper got shot down.
There are adults, and then there are adults we're supposed to count on to report the news accurately.

That you equate Brian Williams job with Sean Hannity's is interesting - and I think accurate.
Good call.
Good call.

I just can't make myself care about this "story".

Just because I'm curious...who do you think is the best US anchor today?

I think he's a liar. Doubt you would "mis-remember" something like this. I also don't think celebrities are any different than the average person morally so

I don't watch the news, so I haven't formed an opinion.
Back in the day I would watch Koppel or Jennings first, probably. Had no problem with Brokaw either.
So I guess I would go with Koppel if I had to.
Dan Rather was - by far - the worst, though. At least among the Big 3.

Then why do you care? It doesn't affect you in any way, but you obviously have an opinion.
Why be critical of something that was originally reported 12 YEARS ago?
I'm not saying what he did was right. Nor am I condoning lying in a news broadcast, but it happens EVERY SINGLE DAY, by EVERY SINGLE OUTLET.
In the past 12 years, I could probably find a mistake or lie that you have told to intentionally make yourself sound better.

I said I don't watch the news. And I don't. But I check all of the major news outlets, and many minor ones, several times a day on the internets, which is where I saw this.
And no, it doesn't effect me directly. Duh.
But I can sure have an opinion about it, regardless. Duh.
Didn't realize he was your dad, though, so I'll just apologize for offending you so deeply and back out of here.

Well since everyone does it, it must be ok. Nothing to see here.

Brian Williams is just another lying scumbag POS far left wing leftist member of the media.

As a journalist, your credibility is extremely important. His is shot.

You realize everybody hates Hannity right? Nobody would come to his defense. Even the poliboard.
And I like Williams, but like Rather, I've lost a little respect for him, but know it's part of the territory. Dat daughter tho.

My point was something like this. LINK
The Newsroom is obviously a fictional series, but highlights some of the biggest points on broadcast journalism.
