As a black guy I guess I'm supposed to be offended and outraged by this shooting I don't know.

It's like, over the last 5 years, criminals have gotten apeshit stupid.

It's like, no one ever stops tot think .. humm the guy knows i have a gun. maybe i should not run away from the cop. And if I am so stupid enough to run and I drop the gun maybe i should not pick it up and face the officer with the gun.

I mean jesus, you get caught you just get fricking caught. It is really worth all this shite?

Stop doing ignorant arse shite like bucking at police officers, running from police officers with a gun on you an there is a good chance you won't be shot.

The only shooting I really feel bad for was that kid in ohio who got shot by the cops in that drive by who was outside wal mart playing cops and robbers that was fricked up. But this shite, i would have shot his black arse just for making me run.

And its not a racial thing. All criminals of all races are pretty stupid, or they wouldn't be criminals to begin with. Social media just puts it more in your face and the lack of common sense from the general public as a whole is why there is more outcry than there used to be.

Both cops should do jail time, if this is the Tamir Rice case you're referring to.

They also tackled and detained his sister who was coming to see about him.

This.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: socioeconomic status is the greatest determining factor in criminal proclivity. Period. It's not even up for debate, IMO.

I'm NOT a fan of body cams for cops...

There was a time, not too long ago, that you could use good common sense and critically look at the facts as they were presented by a DA during grand jury.

Now, these cameras do indeed spell it out, but what about the cops/departments that don't have the funds for them? Will their arrests/shoots/incident reports be looked upon with an unbelieving eye?

The need for absolute proof is going to be a real problem in the very near future. This is the CSI Syndrome on steroids.

Already the case. Media sensationalizing the few bad apples has destroyed trust for all.

Working your arguments back to front - you've already got the CSI effect now and with the advent of technology it will only get worse so you might as well embrace the tools that will help mitigate it - and cameras making recordings that support your point of view are a huge one.

Video is everywhere. If an event happens in public, there are great odds that some or all of it will be captured on video. In the worst case, bystander video won't capture the whole thing, but instead only the end and thus paint an inaccurate picture. Take Ferguson for example - all the bystander video shows is Brown dead in the street so the crowd got to frame the narrative despite the physical evidence supporting the officer's version. Same thing would have happened with the incident in the OP had someone started videoing when they heard shots. They would merely have shown the guy in the ditch with no gun in his hand without the context that the officer's video gives.

As far as affordability, body cameras are dirt cheap now. If a department can afford to give an officer a gun, they can afford a camera.

Facts and good common sense are still going to be the critical part of any court proceeding (grand jury or trial). Video doesn't change that equation any more than the introduction of DNA did 25 years ago or fingerprints did 100 years before DNA. It just brings more unbiased facts to the table, and any reasonable action that brings more facts to the table is a good thing for all parties.

Oh, and that's some pretty good shooting by the officer in the OP's video.

Nice to see how his sagging pants hindered his getaway, and helped the cop get a cleaner shot.

I feel bad that I laughed at this.

Why curious? (Although I agree, it was the first thing I noticed when I started watching the video as well.)

Bit of a stretch so stay with me. When the video started I found the gloves curious because most people hate driving with gloves on. So I started looking at the gloves and they looked like tactical glives rather than normal gloves. So tactical gloves being worn in a situation were gloves are not normally worn made me decide he might be a Veteran. We gained the habit of wearing tactical gloves as protection from fire caused by IED. So with that, I evaluated the escalation of force from the Soldier training I have had and thought.it was too rapid.
