Not true at all. I couldn't care less what they do ans I doubt highly that ALL AUM alums feels they are treated fair. UAB has whined form day one and I say break away. Remember however, the med school stays with us if you do. These are not 3 equal universities. The flagship is in Ttown. WHat would you REALLY say if several AUM alums said they wanted equal rep on the BOT on the Plains?? what would you REALLY say?? Are they quiet because they are truly happy or because AU has told them if they open their mouth they will find their seat vacated. Lowder wasn't above something like that and you know it.

Also, all AU fans want "whats best" for UAB?? DO you really? Do AU fans buy UAB tix??, donate to the schollie fund??, nah, they just "say" I support them.
I wish some honest AU alum would say the truth in that "I want UAB to be a force so it hurts THE university of Alabama both academically and athletically". I'd at least I'd respect you for being honest then.

Wow... Have a cup of coffee... Lowder, really? Is he back on the board? Is he current?

I said I want what is best for UAB, I was not speaking for all Auburn fans, but I think most sane people want what is best for UAB, Troy, AUM, Alabama State, Tuskegee, South Alabama, N. Alabama, etc.

You love the "IF" word, but I will play. "IF" the majority of AUM students, faculty, etc. want to become the University of Montgomery or Montgomery State, then that is fine by me. That will mean they have grown to the level that it is warranted. When the legislature puts up a bill, then I have no opposition to it.

Hey, BAMA fan answer ONE question. What is the biggest reason for NOT allowing UAB to go independent?

Yeah dude. Bills introduced into the Alabama State Legislature intended to redesign the UA board of trustees has no business being discussed by the SECr. I'm sure one of our Bama brothers would have brought this news here to be discussed.

I don't want what's best for UAB as an Auburn fan. I want what's best for UAB as a lifelong resident of Birmingham. I want what's best for UAB because my dad and sister both have masters from there. I want wants best for UAB for my countless friends that have gone or are still going to UAB. I grew and still go to a couple UAB football, basketball, and baseball games every year on weekends when Auburn was off or I couldn't make it to where Auburn was playing.

Not everything is about Auburn vs Alabama. That's where Bama fans are being ignorant and blind about this. You think everybody is out to get Bama and argue with Bama just because you're Bama, when in reality everybody who isn't affilitated with Bama can see through the political BS that is the Alabama BOT and knows it's wrong.

And yes, AUM should have equal say in the academics and athletics at their school because they know what's best for their school and what they need to grow, which is good for the system as a whole.

Why do so many Auburn fans give a single frick about the University of Alabama system?

Because it starts a pissing match between fans. Is there any other reason to post on this board?

Bingo and it fulfills Auburn's need to be a victim.

I always thought that Auburn folks had a legitimate reason for feeling like victims.

Hardcore UAB fans disagree with you. As a graduate of UAB even I am considered second class, because I cheer for Alabama and UAB.

The phone survey asked 300 people in our television market, except those in Tuscaloosa County, various questions about UAB. A majority of them said they wanted to see the UAB football team reinstated.

A telephone survey of 300 people in a Birmingham television market finds a majority of those 300 people in the Birmingham area (but excluding Tuscaloosa County!!) want UAB football reinstated? Totally shocked.

Not sure how that means "not all former students agree" with anything, since the poll wasn't just former students.

In ALL of life, most kids think they are smarter than their parents at some point, and they are usually wrong.***

And before you say you went to UAB, please do not think all former students agree with your personal opinions about the athletics program or BoT representation.

poll

quote:
-64 percent of those questioned believe UAB President Dr. Ray Watts acted improperly when ending the football program.

-52 percent of respondents believe President Watts ended the football program due to influence from the Univerity of Alabama System Board of Trustees.

-78 percent believe UAB should have its own Board of Trustees.

-86 percent believe UAB should be allowed to have a football team.

Auburn's need to be victim?

Bama is the one trying to play victim here. You act like the only reason people would side with UAB is just because you're Bama and we don't like Bama.

ETA:

It's fricking laugjable because you think everything revolves around Bama or AU vs Bama. It just higlights the fact that a lot of Bama fans have nothing in their life but Alabama football.

This board has turned into a joke where rationale conversation is impossible.

UAB is not in the SEC. For what purpose would an Auburn fan start the twentieth thread on the topic? I understand that your feelings are hurt and it gets more obvious with every emotional post.

This thread is about restructuring the UA Board of Trustees. Are you too stupid to realize why this topic would be relevant in the SECr? UAB is only part of the story. Damn.

WOW. UAB had 200 people show up in Montgomery to rally for this bill. That is about the same amount of people who showed up to the Alabama Voters for Responsible Animal Legislation rally at the State House and about 1/5 of the number of people who rallied to oppose a proposed hazardous-waste incinerator in Richmond County. You cannot stop this tidal wave of support for UAB.

This a thread in the SECr about proposed legislation that affects the BOT that governs the University of Alabama, an SEC school. How is this not SEC related?

Would you rather have a discussion about a legit hot button topic that has to do with an SEC school, or another typical off season thread that you'll see 20 more times before the season kicks off?

UAB is the "Hands Up Don't Shoot" ; "Black Lives Matter" cause celebre for Auburn fans.
