I've been to a lot of really good shows. The Flaming Lips were always fun. The most recent "best" I've been to was Sturgill Simpson at the Ryman. That guy puts on one hell of a show.

I listen to a little of everything. Except rap and hip hop. Dont care much for todays country music. Saw bad company and the damn yankees. That was a pretty good concert too. Ac/dc who made who tour. Angus young had to have been fueled with nuclear power.

I grew up with both. My parents were big country fans. I listen to country mostly when Alan Jackson first got started, Brooks and Dunn, Hank Jr and that crowd. I hate todays country.

I switched back and forth through the years. Classic rock (for me) was always my favorite. I opened up to some of todays stuff like Evans Blue, Train, and even some of the main stream stuff like Maroon 5 and etc. In the end, I usually go back to classic rock

Pretty much similar in musical taste it sounds. Check out Jack Savoretti, I'm sure you've heard of Joe Bonamassa. Black Label Society is pretty good too.

U2 in Tampa or Tool. They put on such incredible shows. Manson had a unique and interesting show with Slayer.

I wish I would have been able to see the Stones or Floyd :(.

Hendrix at the Forum/LA, 1968
Doors at the Hollywood Bowl, 1968--being ripped to the tits on acid at the Hollywood Bowl made the show. Looking back at film of the concert, I'd say the Doors were good, but not their best night.

Dad saw The Doors a handful of times and said there was no middle ground with their concerts. It was either amazing or dreadful.

Way before any of most posters' time --

Bruce Springsteen & E Street Band -- free concert in Auburn on the small stage setup in the coliseum. This was about the same time as he made the cover of Newsweek but before he exploded in the early 70s. The Boss put on a show!

Where? Did he grow up in LA? I also saw the Doors at a club called The Bank--we dropped acid right before they stepped on stage--and they played for like 40 fricking minutes. We'd barely started tripping when they said "Later" and walked off stage.

Can you say "bummer"?

Nah, he grew up in Ohio, but was a bit of a hippy vagabond in the late 60's. He saw them a few times while living in San Francisco and once or twice in Cleveland. He said Jim was worse off at one of the Cleveland shows than he was at the Miami show he was arrested at. Said Jim didn't sing a complete line to any of the songs and Manzarek and Krieger just kept playing solos over him anytime he tried to sing.

I wonder if the band put on any truly epic concerts after 1968. Sucks for Manzarek, Kreiger and Densmore, because you know they wanted to rock the shite out of their music, but Morrison fell apart.

Their best live performances had to be between 1966 and somewhere in '68.

If there are other people out there who saw kick arse Doors concerts in '69 and '70, I'd like about it--year, venue, etc.

You're probably right. My dad seemed to have a love/hate relationship with Morrison, but said he always went to Doors shows to watch Krieger on the guitar. He always felt Krieger was the most underrated guitarist in rock history because Jim's antics overshadowed him.

And I guess this is video from the 68 Cleveland show he went to. It's horrible quality though and the video and audio don't seem to ever match up.

ACDC at Phillips Arena in 08 or 09.

Second would be either Dispatch at Sloss Furnace around 2012 , ZZ Top in 07 and 2015, or Dropkick Murphys at Iron City in 2015.

Kiss in '76 I think, in S'port. Kiss concerts were awesome in the 70's for a teen.
