Wallender (the remake with Kenneth Branagh, not the original in Swedish)

Wallander - I am the opposite. I love the Swedish show. My g/f is from Ystad where the show is filmed. Her dad will blow up if you start talking about Ystad being a dangerous place with all of the murders.

One show that is worth binge watching is George Gently. He is a police inspector in the north of England in the 60's. The lack of political correctness is amusing.

...and while I am talking about Scandinavia, I might as well toss in Rita. It is about a teacher in Denmark. Rita is a very complicated good and bad character rolled into one. Netflix picked up season 3 of the show and probably will add season 4 before all is said and done.

Nurse Jackie isn't bad if you're with a female in the Med field and need something to watch.

Speaking of foreign flicks ... the entire Girl with the Dragon tattoo series is on Netflix. I've watched all three. That girl, Naomi whatshername, starred in Promethius ... she's beautiful and she's a great actress. The Tattooed Girl movies made her famous.

Documentary:

Jiro Dreams of Sushi

quote:

JIRO DREAMS OF SUSHI is the story of 85-year-old Jiro Ono, considered by many to be the world’s greatest sushi chef. He is the proprietor of Sukiyabashi Jiro, a 10-seat, sushi-only restaurant inauspiciously located in a Tokyo subway station. Despite its humble appearances, it is the first restaurant of its kind to be awarded a prestigious three-star Michelin Guide rating, and sushi lovers from around the globe make repeated pilgrimage, calling months in advance and shelling out top dollar for a coveted seat at Jiro’s sushi bar.

JIRO DREAMS OF SUSHI is a thoughtful and elegant meditation on work, family, and the art of perfection, chronicling Jiro’s life as both an unparalleled success in the culinary world and as a loving yet complicated father. -

I liked this documentary a lot. It shows a man who takes his work very seriously, who always strives to be better, and does everything with a high degree of excellence.

Her name is Noomi Rapace. She is from Iceland, and she is fantastic in those 3 movies.

I have watched these over the past year. All were excellent.

Breaking Bad - Best show ever
Dexter - Long but very much worth the watch
Bloodline - Only been on 1 season but its very good so far
Mad Men - Excellent as well. Kind of Soap Opera"ish" but very very good
House of Cards - Great Dirty Politician series. Cant wait for the new season
Spartacus - Has the rep of being just porn but this series is amazing if you get into it
BOSS - Kelcy Grammar at his best. It got cancelled but the seasons they finished were fantastic (Better than House of Cards IMO)
Californication - One of the most politically incorrect/Awesome shows ever
Peaky Blinders - This series did not get me. I liked it but not as much as others

Waiting for Feb 1st - Better Call Saul - Season 1 will be added.

If you have Amazon Prime, there is a new show called "Mad Dogs". Just finished it (One season) and it was very much worth the watch

I have watched that series a few times. My wife finally decided that it was worth 10 mins of her time the second time I started watching it. She absolutely loved it. I think once she decided that it was not pure porn and that there was a story, she fell in love with it

Documentaries....

Cropsey
The Roosevelts
Prohibition
Best of Enemies
Restrepo
Muscle Shoals
My Brother's Bomber

I've also become addicted to this weird Norwegian TV show called "Occupied" It's about a Russian/EU occupation of Norway for oil reasons. It's subtitled, but I can't seem to stop watching it.

It was. Killer Legends is basically a collection of true stories that may have inspired popular urban legends.
