I got a kick out of this article & interview with the Juicy Couture founders whining because their brand fell & was being "peddled in Kohl's." Evidently, they believed they were here to stay. I mean, surely bedazzled track suits should be around forever. LOL.

We have no great war. No great depression. Out great war is a spiritual war. Our great depression is our lives.

So, I manage and buy for a privately owned Lilly Pulitzer store and this is just hilarious. I don't know why there is all this "outrage." Frankly, IDGAF. My 19 year old employees have made comments similar to those in tweets mentioned here and usually I just tell them to shut their whore mouths. I'm more interested in reading about Coach Schottenheimer than whether or not it's a disgrace that the classic brand I work for is now going to be sold to the masses.

Americans are so dumb.

I love the look and quality of Brooks Brothers clothing for work, and don't mind paying a premium for it at their stores. I'd be ecstatic if they started selling it at Target at a deep discount, so long as the quality remained the same.

Over Lilly Pulitzer being sold at Target.

Backstory for the young

Lily came from money and married money. Her husband was related to the guy that created the Pulitzer Prize. If that were not enough she was classmates with Jackie O so she was the classic example of fashion being the rooted more in who you know that how good something actually looks.

Popular in the 60's and 70's when loud clothes were loud, and Lily stuff was loud, it usually was limited to sorority chicks and gay dudes. The whole brand should have died a quiet death when Lily kicked the bucket but not in modern corporate america where bean counters work hard to extract every penny they can. if Hollywood can make money on sequels why not do the same with fashion.

The melt in sorority land when they see the People of WalMart sporting the clothes will be epic. F*ck modern corporate america for screwing up this country doing this tho ...

FWIW, this is just the latest in the crapping of america. Abercrombie & Fitch was once the greatest sporting goods store on the earth and now all that remains is a clothing store that sells to idiots with sheep like fashion sense. Bean counters make money and America falls farther and faster on the way to second class status.

Which one specifically? I've got 3.

Along with some shirts. They make a solid product.

Brooks Brothers quality started declining in the 80's. Same with Joseph Banks.

Those old Brooks Brothers button downs were real quality and lasted 10 - 20 years. It is why you paid to have them laundered because after the first decade you had the collars reversed and got another decade out of them. Bean counters kept knocking them down over the past generation so the young thing the stuff today is quality when it no longer is. Go into most clothing stores now and they don't know squat about real tailoring unless you go to Hong Kong or Europe.

Yeah, I realize BB isn't the best quality you can get. They routinely have their sport shirts on sale for 3 for around $200, and they last me long enough at that price, and being non-iron is just another plus. I don't need a professionally tailored shirt at my job.

My overall point was if they kept their current quality and started selling them at Target at a deep discount, I'd be ecstatic.

this whole conversation reminds me of when Instagram said they were going to come out on android and all the Apple fanboys said they were going to stop using it.

I don't think it's a rivalry.

The only real hate comes from the Android side. Why they hate apple products I don't understand. Maybe they're not your preference but jeez...
